Suzuki GSX-R1000/GSX-R1000R
The GSX-R series will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025, since the launch of the first-generation GSX-R750 in 1985. To date, the series has produced a total of over 1.2 million units*. The series has also achieved glory in numerous races, including 20 titles in the Endurance World Championship, the Superbike World Championship, and the All Japan Road Race Championship.
The GSX-R1000, the top-of-the-line model in the GSX-R series, was launched in Europe, North America, and elsewhere in 2001. In 2024, the GSX-R1000 will compete in the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race as part of the Team Suzuki CN Challenge in the Experimental Class, an experimental class that uses sustainable fuels, and finish in 8th place.
This latest model change has made it possible to comply with exhaust gas and noise regulations without sacrificing the high performance of “The King of Sportbikes.” In
addition to thoroughly reviewing the internal engine parts, it has also evolved further by adopting the latest electronic control system and a lightweight, compact, highly reliable lithium-ion battery made by ELIIY Power that has a wide temperature range.

engine
- The shapes of internal engine parts such as injectors, cylinder heads, camshafts, valves, pistons, and crankshafts have been completely improved, achieving high performance and improved durability while meeting strict exhaust gas and noise regulations.
- The maximum valve lift amount remains unchanged, but the camshaft overlap is reduced by changing the lift curve.
- The cam chain width has been widened to accommodate use in harsh environments such as endurance races.
- By reviewing the shape of the exhaust system and the placement of catalysts, we have achieved both compliance with exhaust gas regulations and high output performance. In addition, the change in layout has resulted in a slim and stylish design for the muffler body.
body
- By continuing to use the lightweight, compact, and highly rigid twin-spar aluminum frame that has received high praise in the current model, the basic performance of “running, turning, and stopping” is harmonized at a high level.
- The front cowling is fitted with carbon fibre winglets (sold as accessories in some regions) identical to those fitted to the Team Suzuki CN Challenge vehicle in the 2024 Suzuka 8 Hours, which generate downforce on the vehicle body, suppressing front lift when exiting corners and enabling smoother acceleration.
SIRS (Suzuki Intelligent Ride System)
- Added lift limiter.
- The IMU and wheel speed sensors detect the vehicle’s posture and speed, and the roll torque control controls the rear wheel drive force according to the vehicle’s bank angle and wheel rotation speed, controlling torque for optimal acceleration out of corners. The traction control, lift limiter, and roll torque control work together as the “Smart TLR System.”
Equipment
design
- To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the GSX-R series, the following three colors are available:
Pearl Vigor Blue / Pearl Tech White
Candy Daring Red / Pearl Tech White
Pearl Ignite Yellow / Metallic Mat Stellar Blue - 40th anniversary graphics and emblems are featured on the sides of the vehicle, the top of the tank, and the key mascot.
- The seat and muffler feature the “GSX-R” logo.
