Bikes Weekly News Digest is a feature that brings you all the hot topics announced in the previous week. This time, we will be introducing the news announced from August 4th to 10th, 2025.

A versatile model equipped with practical features

Kawasaki Motors Japan will release the dual-purpose model “KLX230 DF” on September 15, 2025. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is 682,000 yen (tax included), and it will be available in one color: Medium Cloudy Gray. It will be an ABS-equipped vehicle produced for the Japanese market at PT. Kawasaki Motor Indonesia in Indonesia.

The KLX230 DF was developed as a versatile model that can be used on both on-road and off-road. Its lightweight and compact body is easy to maneuver and provides easy handling. The seat height is set at 845mm, ensuring a minimum ground clearance of 240mm, while also providing good foot reach and off-road performance.

At its heart is a 232cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, single-cylinder engine with a built-in balancer. It prioritizes torque at low and mid-range speeds, ensuring stability when riding on forest roads, around town, or carrying a load. The frame is a semi-double cradle perimeter structure that combines rigidity and flexibility, and combined with front and rear suspensions with long wheel travel, it enhances road-holding ability and stability.

The exterior is unified in an earthy gray color that conveys durability and reliability. The main parts, such as the engine, frame, and swingarm, are blacked out, emphasizing a bold and tough look. The shroud design features only the “Kawasaki” logo, creating a simple and functional style. It exudes a subdued presence that blends in with the surrounding scenery, even when outdoors or touring.

The KLX230 DF comes standard with practical equipment for outdoor-oriented riders. It is equipped with an engine guard to reduce engine damage in the event of a fall, a rear carrier to increase load capacity, and an aluminum skid plate to protect the underside of the engine from flying stones and road impacts. It also comes with handguards to improve maneuverability on forest roads and unpaved roads.

The rear wheel uses a tubeless tire, which improves convenience when repairing a puncture or changing a tire. The ABS is dual-purpose and can be turned off when necessary, allowing for flexible braking on unpaved or rough roads.

The vehicle is equipped with a wireless connection function and can be linked to the smartphone app “RIDEOLOGY THE APP.” In addition to checking vehicle information, voice commands and navigation functions are also available. These paid features can be used immediately with a one-year free license granted when purchasing a new vehicle, greatly improving convenience when touring.

Compared to the company’s “KLX230 SHERPA,” the KLX230 DF is differentiated in terms of equipment and appearance. The shroud has a simpler logo design, and the blacked-out finish emphasizes a rugged impression. A rear carrier and engine guard are standard equipment, further enhancing practicality. Another notable feature is the improved ease of maintenance thanks to the tubeless rear wheel.

The KLX230 DF is suitable for a wide range of uses, from everyday use such as commuting and shopping in the city to outdoor activities such as forest road touring and camping. Its lightweight and slim body demonstrates mobility in urban areas, while its long suspension travel and ground clearance make it easy to avoid obstacles and overcome bumps off-road. Its load carrying capacity and tough exterior enhance reliability over long distances and in harsh environments, expanding the rider’s range of activities.

Its price of 682,000 yen is highly competitive, considering its extensive standard equipment and versatility. It embodies Kawasaki’s concept of “a bike that seamlessly connects the everyday with the extraordinary,” and will be a great companion for a wide range of situations, from weekend adventures to daily commutes.
