Basic specifications of KLX230 SHERPA S

The KLX230 SHERPA S is a model that inherits the basic performance of the KLX230 SHERPA that was released last year, while adopting specifications that suit a wider range of riders. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is set at 660,000 yen (base price 600,000 yen, consumption tax 60,000 yen).

The three color variations available are “Whitish Beige,” “Medium Smoky Green,” and “Medium Cloudy Gray.” The design is reminiscent of outdoor gear and features soft colors.

Engine specifications and basic performance

The engine is a 232cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, SOHC, 2-valve engine. Its design emphasizes torque at low and mid-range speeds, making it easy to handle in a wide range of situations, from city to suburban. The built-in balancer suppresses vibrations, providing a comfortable ride.

The body is made of a perimeter semi-double cradle frame that combines rigidity and flexibility. It also comes standard with hand guards, an aluminum skid plate, stack pipes and other equipment that enhance the trekking mood.

Main changes from the previous model

Improved seat height for better foot reach

The biggest change is that the seat height has been changed from the previous 845mm to 825mm. The 20mm reduction allows more riders to reach the ground with their feet with confidence. This change has significantly improved ease of handling for shorter riders and beginners.

Review of suspension settings

The front and rear suspensions use dual-rate springs exclusive to the KLX230 SHERPA S. Wheel travel is set at 158mm in the front and 168mm in the rear, up from 200mm in the front and 223mm in the rear on the previous model. This adjustment optimizes the balance between on-road comfort and off-road performance.

Use of tubeless tires

The rear wheel is now tubeless, greatly improving convenience when repairing punctures and changing tires. This makes it easier to deal with problems while touring, and gives you more peace of mind.

Expanded smartphone connectivity features

The KLX230 SHERPA S has significantly expanded functionality for the smartphone app “RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE.” New features include “voice command” and “navigation function,” improving convenience while riding.

These functions normally require a paid license, but new car buyers can use them free of charge for one year using a 2D code provided at the time of delivery. If you wish to continue using the functions after the free license expires, you will need to purchase a license.

Dual-purpose ABS

It is equipped with a dual-purpose ABS that can be turned off when necessary, ensuring safety on the road while allowing you to enjoy free riding off-road.
