Found the Africa kit for the Monkey 125!
Thailand is just as passionate about customization as Japan, if not more so. In Southeast Asia, people travel mainly by motorbike, so naturally there are many users who customize their beloved bikes. So Moto Champ went to Thailand to hold a photo session of custom bikes! At the venue, they discovered a Monkey with an African exterior. The footage was shown in an episode of Moto Champ TV, which distributes free videos on YouTube, titled ” Discovered in Thailand! The Africa Kit for the Monkey 125 is surprisingly cheap!? ” This time, we’ve put together a digest of the video, so let’s introduce the Africa Kit.

The main components of the kit are a dummy tank, seat and cowl that simply fit over the Monkey 125.
The main part of the Africa Kit is the cowling that extends from the tank to the seat cowling. It is simply placed on top and secured, leaving the exterior of the Monkey 125 intact. There is also an example of an Africa Kit being made in Japan for the Monkey Baja using a similar method, which we introduced in a previous article . This is a reproduction of a body kit that Honda Access released around 1991, and was designed to be placed over the Monkey Baja. The one we are introducing this time is for the Monkey 125, and is slightly larger in size.

The seat can be lifted.
The Monkey Baja was designed to use the original seat as is, but the seat has been specially developed for this Africa Kit for the Monkey 125. There is a hinge on the right side that allows it to be lifted up, so it looks like it might be possible to modify the bottom to create a storage compartment or something similar.

Opening the top of the tank reveals the original tank.
The Africa kit’s tank has an openable top. When you open the cover, the original tank is still in place, and refueling is done through here. Therefore, the original fuel tank remains.

Dual lights, knuckle guards, and fenders were also developed.
The headlights are particularly elaborate. They have been changed from the stock single-lens headlights to dual lights, and special pipes and guards have been installed to cover the surrounding area. Furthermore, the knuckle guards, visor, and front fenders have also been newly developed, faithfully recreating the appearance of the Monkey Africa.

An underguard has also been developed.
Of course, an underguard is also installed. The shape is slightly different from the Monkey Baja Africa kit, but there is a big difference between having it and not having it.

Mike, the developer of the Africa Kit.
The Africa Kit for the Monkey 125 is developed and sold by a Thai brand called Cookie Run Bikes. The brand’s owner, Mike, produced and commercialized it.

It is sold under the brand name Cookie Run Bike.
Cookie Run Bike also has a Facebook account, so you can check out what kind of brand they are on Facebook. Please do a search.

There was also one for Monkey Baja!
The video not only briefly introduces the Africa Kit for the Monkey 125, but also the Monkey Baja. This also appears to be commercially available, and the seller, 8ftweekend.com, has it listed along with the one for the Monkey 125. It can also be purchased from Japan, with the kit for the 125 listed as 270,000 yen and the one for the Monkey Baja listed as around 255,000 yen. Prices may fluctuate depending on the exchange rate, so be sure to check.

In addition to the Africa kit, they have developed a number of other custom parts.
If you look at Cookie Run Bike’s Facebook page, you’ll see that not only the Africa Kit but also a variety of other Monkey customizations are introduced. All of them are full of playfulness, and just looking at them is fun.

A racer-style cowling has also been posted on Facebook.
They also seem to be developing cowlings in the style of factory machines from the 1970s and 1980s, and the level of completion is high. Be sure to search for them on Facebook.
Introducing Thai custom machines!
This Monkey 125 Africa Kit was discovered at a photo shoot held by Moto Champ in Thailand. Many ordinary owners brought their beloved bikes to the event. We will introduce the customized machines below. Surprisingly, many of the customizations are similar to those in Japan, which is interesting.
