A new generation model that combines aggressive style with electronic control

Suzuki will release the new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM, which were unveiled for the first time in the world at the 2024 EICMA Milan Show, in the Japanese market on October 8, 2025. While both models inherit the lineage of the legendary DR-Z400 series, they are equipped with a completely redesigned electronic control system and an engine that complies with emissions regulations, optimizing them for modern riding environments.
The DR-Z4S is a dual-purpose model that pursues compatibility with both on-road and off-road riding, while the DR-Z4SM is a supermoto model that emphasizes agile handling on paved roads, building on its high riding performance. Both models are newly equipped with Suzuki’s original electronic control system, SIRS (Suzuki Intelligent Ride System). The traction control (STCS) is equipped with an off-road compatible “G Mode,” and is also equipped with the “SDMS (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector)” that allows the rider to select from three throttle response levels and ABS with a deactivation mode, allowing for a variety of control options to suit the rider’s skill and road conditions.
The design speaks of its presence as a “real gear”

The styling of both models features horizontal side lines and a sharp, flat silhouette, eliminating unnecessary elements for a functional beauty. The front features bi-function LED headlamps that can be switched between high and low beams, giving the car a compact yet modern look.
The overall exterior design is based on the development concept of “aggressive and fresh,” emphasizing a dynamic stance for off-road riding. The DR-Z4S’s high ground clearance and slender silhouette make it easy to handle off-road, while the DR-Z4SM’s 17-inch wheels and on-road tires give it a low center of gravity and a sporty stance. The combination of LED lighting and a newly designed LCD meter is also distinctive in that it combines Suzuki’s signature functional beauty with advanced technology.
398cc single-cylinder engine provides light torque and highly efficient combustion

At the heart of both models is a newly developed 398cc water-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder DOHC engine. By adopting a newly designed cylinder head, piston, and dual spark plug, the engine achieves both tenacity at low rpm and improved power at high rpm.
In addition, improved combustion efficiency has resulted in a more direct response to throttle opening, while also complying with the latest exhaust gas regulations.Furthermore, the combination of an electronically controlled throttle and fuel injection system has been designed to achieve both easy starting and acceleration performance.
The transmission is equipped with the Suzuki Clutch Assist System, which reduces the effort required to operate the engine and ensures stability during deceleration. The lightweight pistons and crankcase reduce mechanical loss, resulting in smooth output characteristics and excellent fuel economy. It is truly the ideal form for a modern single-cylinder engine: “light, strong, and agile.”
The riding character supported by the tires and frame

The body employs a newly developed semi-double cradle frame made from steel pipes, achieving a balance between rigidity and flexibility. The DR-Z4S, which prioritizes off-road performance, is fitted with IRC “TRAIL WINNER GP-410” tires and a traditional trail configuration of 21 inches in the front and 18 inches in the rear, enhancing road-holding ability. Meanwhile, the DR-Z4SM is fitted with Dunlop “SPORT MAX Q5A” tires, with 17-inch wheels in front and rear, achieving both sharp cornering and high grip. From circuit riding to city driving, it enables the agile movement you expect from a supermoto.
The annual domestic sales target is 400 units for the DR-Z4S and 800 units for the DR-Z4SM. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for both is 1,199,000 yen (tax included). These two models, which combine electronic control and lightweight design, are models that symbolize Suzuki’s new dual-purpose strategy.
