The star of this project is a Super Cub 50 Deluxe (2000 model). It is equipped with off-road tires and is designed to be able to run on forest roads.
It’s been over five years since I bought it second-hand, and it’s only driven about 100km during that time. I don’t use it too hard, but the engine oil still deteriorates over time, and the tires and drive chain also need maintenance.
I just changed the engine oil last month, so now it’s time to maintain the drive chain.
The basic maintenance of a drive chain is cleaning and oiling. The maintenance cycle is said to be 500 to 1000 km. The Super Cub’s drive chain is covered with a chain cover, which has the advantage of preventing it from getting dirty with mud and dust.

The chain cover bolts can be removed with a 10mm wrench/socket, allowing easy access to the chain.

After spraying the chain lube, scrub with a brush…patience is key.
The first step in maintenance is to remove dirt with chain cleaner and a brush. Brush carefully until the dirt on the chain, which was initially black, becomes transparent. Once it’s clean, apply chain oil. This will protect the drive chain. Applying too much oil can cause it to splatter, so don’t forget to wipe it off.

Also check the chain’s stretch. The ideal value is when it moves up and down by 2 to 3 cm when touched with your finger. If there is more slack than this, adjust it with the chain adjuster. This time, as a finishing touch, apply Bio Armor additive to the drive chain. The purpose is to reduce friction and improve riding performance. To use, apply it all around the chain like chain oil. That’s it. It has excellent penetration, so a thin coat with a brush is sufficient.

BioArmor Oil Additive
This metal protection additive was developed by M Factory. It is an environmentally friendly product that replaces ingredients that will be subject to regulation under the Stockholm Convention (regulations on persistent organic pollutants) with plant-derived ingredients that are not subject to regulation. It offers excellent metal protection and extreme pressure performance, and can be added to motorcycle and automobile engine oils (*) and gear oils.
*Cannot be used on vehicles with wet clutches or wet starter clutches.
Measure horsepower with a dynamometer

M Factory is also known as the importer and distributor of the engine chassis dynamometer “Dynostar.” We measured rear wheel power output before and after applying the additive.
Red is before application of BioArmor oil additive, blue is after application. Maximum power increased from 2.1 horsepower to 2.2 horsepower.
It may not be a difference you can feel when driving around town, but I didn’t feel any disadvantages whatsoever.
